1st
Edinburgh Shakespeare Festival
The Ross Open Air Theatre, Princes Street Gardens
27th June to 12th July 2006
Following
last year's sell-out tour the British Shakespeare Company are
proud to announce the 1st Edinburgh Shakespeare Festival.
The
Ross Open Air Theatre, nestled in the stunning world
heritage site that is Princes Street Gardens, has to be the
most stunning setting in the world for Shakespeare's plays.
Edinburgh
Castle in the heart of Scotland's Capital provides
a magnificent and awe-inspiring backdrop for two of Shakespeare's
most popular plays - A Midsummer
Night's Dream, his best loved romantic comedy
and Romeo & Juliet,
the greatest love story ever told.
These
productions are performed in beautiful Elizabethan costumes by
a cast of sixteen of Britain's finest professional Shakespearian
actors. They will include live music, action, exciting sword
fights and hilarious comedy all set in the stunning natural surroundings
that Shakespeare intended for his plays.
A
magical open-air festival of love, laughter and amorous adventure,
performed by a company that continues to delight audiences and
critics alike. As
part of our festival we have Stars
of the West End performing for one night only -
Monday 3rd July 2006. Featuring five top West End stars accompanied
by a 12 piece orchestra, performing the greatest songs from the
West End hit shows: Phantom of the Opera, Les
Misérables, Miss Saigon, Mamma
Mia, Grease, The Rat Pack, Beauty and the Beast and
many, many more... |
